Living Word Church has had a vision for many years to be a source of blessing in
this area. We want to be able to show God’s love for everyone in the Huntington
community in a very practical way and we want our building, the Living Word
Centre, to be a place where those who need help can find it. Because of this,
we at the church are excited to share that our building has become home to a foodbank distribution centre for the north of York.
York Foodbank is a project run in partnership with churches across the city and is a a part of The Trussell Trust, a Christian charity committed to community action against poverty. There are several centres opening throughout York, and we are pleased to be serving the Huntington/Bell Farm area.
This food bank is made possible by the generous donations of churches, schools, businesses and individuals –
everything that we have will have been kindly given by somebody who has taken one of our Foodbank ‘shopping lists’ and picked up a few non-perishable items that are required. The available food will all be nutritional and will help form a well-balanced diet for those who receive it. What’s more, there will always be people around the building who would love to chat over a cuppa with anyone who comes in to use the foodbank.
The Foodbank is at the Riverside Centre and is for people with approved vouchers to collect supplies every Wednesday from 1pm to 3pm.
