Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
The Bible tells us that meeting together or “fellowship” is vitally important in the life of a Christian. Why is this so? Well, first and foremost because the church is by its very nature a gathering of God’s people, and you don’t gather on your own. So we want to encounter the presence of God together when we meet, worshipping Him and hearing from Him.
Secondly, we need each other. The Church is described as a body, and just like a physical body the parts of this spiritual body need to be properly connected if they are to survive and thrive.
25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near. (ESV)
