Christianity is not about church attendance or just believing in God. It is not even about being a good person and doing good things. The word “Christian” simply means a follower of Christ. Practically speaking it means turning away from your old sinful way of life and living God's way. The Bible calls this repentance. At the same time putting your trust in Jesus, and acknowledging Him as your lord and saviour.
Romans 108 Salvation that comes from trusting Christ…9For if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved.
When we do this the Bible tells us that we receive a new life and are born again. Some people think that the phrase “born again” refers to a certain type of Christian, but Jesus himself said that unless you are born again you are not a part of God’s kingdom and therefore NOT a Christian at all. (John 3:3-7)
If you are not Christian you can become part of God’s family today. You may think that God doesn’t love you or doesn’t even know who you are, but the truth is that He does love you and He has a good plan for your life.
You can have a new start today by simply asking Jesus to cleanse you from your sin and give you His new life. You can then turn your life around and go in His direction, putting your trust in Him.
Say this simple prayer out loud.
“Lord Jesus, I believe that you are the Son of God. I believe you died and paid the price for my sin. I believe that you rose again and now live forever. I surrender my life to you gladly and ask you to cleanse me of my sin. I want you to be my Lord and Saviour.Thank you for your love and your faithfulness. AMEN”
If you prayed that prayer out loud and meant it then you have just been born again. The next thing you need to do is tell someone that you have become a Christian. It’s important that you find a good, Bible believing church near you and join with other Christians who will help you on your journey.
